F-4 phantom
The F-4 is a Vietnam era fighter bomber that was dominant in the air. Capable of reaching Mach two, the Phantom was very fast. It wasn’t only used for air-to-air combat, it was also used to attack targets on the ground, and for reconnaissance. There was a special division of the F-4 fighters called the Wild Weasels. Their job was to take out enemy surface-to- air missiles before the enemy could shoot them. The Wild Weasel pilots were very brave. Their motto was the adult version of “you got to be kidding me!” This was what people said when the control towers heard their mission. The F-4 was taken out of American service in 1994. All in all the F-4 is a great airplane that has served this country well.
