The Avro Lancaster Bomber
The Avro Lancaster bomber was considered the greatest RAF (Royal Air Force) bomber during World War II. It was used in many bombing raids on Germany. The Lancaster was actually built from the frame of a different plane, the Manchester; but, unlike the Manchester, it was equipped with four Merlin X engines, and later with four Merlin XX engines. It carried a bomb load of 14,000 LBS (pounds), and was the most important British Bomber in World War Two.
